About the Owner
Hello, my name is Justin Ruff and I am the owner of Backyard Retreats. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and have been installing residential landscapes in our city for over 15 years. Throughout the course of my career I have worked as a landscape construction laborer, foreman, salesperson, designer, operations manager, and safety rep.
Working in these various roles over the years has given me tremendous insight into our industry, and the factors that go into running a successful business. I started Backyard Retreats to put all that I have learned into practice, and provide my customers with unparalleled service and quality, at a competitive price.
Living and working in Calgary means that I know the challenges involved with landscaping in our unique climate. The winters here can be brutally cold, and the intermittent Chinook winds that we experience have the capability of shifting temperatures as much as 40 degrees Celsius in a single day. This kind of intense freeze/thaw cycle can wreak havoc on your landscape and hardscape features if not installed correctly. I personally guarantee that all of our installs will stand up to our Calgary climate, and will be enjoyed by you and your family for years to come.
